Dr. Finkelstein joined the University of Pittsburgh Department of Ophthalmology as a Clinical Associate Professor in 2021. He currently serves as Executive Vice Chair for Clinical Operations, Chief of Ophthalmology at UPMC Vision Institute and UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside, and Physician Lead for the Department’s Ophthalmic Technician Training Program. He sees patients at the Vision Institute at the Mercy Pavilion and at UPMC Shadyside with an emphasis on comprehensive ophthalmology. He is board-certified in ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Pittsburgh Ophthalmology Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Allegheny County Medical Society.
He joined the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary after residency and became Clinical Assistant Professor at New York Medical College. He was Associate Clinical Director of the residency program at New York Eye & Ear Infirmary and was awarded the Resident Teaching Award at New York Eye & Ear Infirmary in 1995 and Lenox Hill Hospital in 1997. He became an Attending Emeritus at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in 1998. He joined the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Michigan in 1998 as Clinical Assistant Professor and was the long-serving Medical Director of Michigan Medicine’s Canton Ophthalmology Clinic. He held many leadership positions during his tenure at Michigan Medicine and was on the Standard Setting Panel for the American Board of Ophthalmology.
