Kajree Gupta, MD

Dr. Kajree Gupta is the current Fellow in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at UPMC, Pittsburgh.

Dr. Gupta earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Seth G.S. Medical College and King Edward Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. She subsequently completed her Master of Surgery (MS) in Ophthalmology, graduating with a medal for academic excellence, at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, one of India's premier medical institutions. She then served as a Senior Resident at PGIMER, where she received advanced training in pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology, and glaucoma.

From July 2025 to June 2026, Dr. Gupta completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and Children's Nebraska in Omaha, where she received advanced subspecialty training in pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, and pediatric glaucoma. She subsequently joined UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh as the current Fellow in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, further expanding her expertise in the diagnosis and surgical management of complex pediatric eye disorders.

Her clinical interests include pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, pediatric glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, and congenital cataracts. She has extensive experience managing complex pediatric and neuro-ophthalmic disorders and has performed a high volume of cataract, strabismus, and glaucoma surgeries.

Dr. Gupta has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, with research focusing on pediatric cataract surgery, congenital glaucoma, childhood myopia and multimodal ophthalmic imaging. She has presented her work at national and international meetings, including the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS), the European Society of Retina Specialists (EURETINA), and the All India Ophthalmological Society.

She is a Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology (FICO) and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS). Her academic interests include pediatric cataract, childhood myopia, congenital glaucoma, and improving surgical outcomes in pediatric eye disease through clinical research.
