The Retinal Dystrophy Clinic at the UPMC Vision Institute is dedicated to helping patients and families affected by inherited retinal diseases (IRDs). These conditions are complex and often life-changing, but our multidisciplinary team is committed to providing clarity, guidance, and access to the most advanced diagnostics and treatments available today. The clinic serves patients locally, nationally, and internationally in a state-of-the-art facility designed for integrated ophthalmic care, rehabilitation, and clinical research.
We work closely with our research team to bring you clinical trials of new IRD treatments. Our Retinal Dystrophy Clinic is one of the ocular gene therapy treatment centers in the U.S. that is approved to offer LUXTURNA, an FDA-approved gene therapy.
Patients are seen at t the UPMC Mercy Pavilion Vision Institute. Low vision and genetic counseling services are also offered, and opportunities for no-cost genetic testing are available for most patients.
